Encouraging Action for Peace

Now that we’ve reopened, if you pop down to the Hub on Bull St in Birmingham city centre, you might notice something a bit different about us. As well as freshening up our sign with a new purple background, we’ve also added our new strapline:

Peace Hub: Encouraging Action for Peace

The aim of this refresh is to make our shop-front more welcoming, and to more clearly explain what we do at the Hub. Many people are worried about the violence and social injustice we see in the world, and would like to do something about it – but aren’t sure where to begin. If that sounds like you, do pop in to visit us for a friendly chat and ideas for simple actions you can take.

We’ll still be focussing on peace & social justice – and will keep using that term in contexts where we’ve got more space to explore what it means (especially the idea that justice is more the the criminal justice system). Our commitment to peace & social justice springs from our Quaker faith, and we’re always happy to answer visitors questions about Quakerism, but we also want to be clear that people of all faiths and none are welcome at the Hub.

We’ll also keep encouraging action for peace by working in partnership with local community and voluntary groups, whose aims chime with our own.

So do feel free to swing by to admire our shiny new sign – and more importantly to have a cuppa and a chat about how we can take action together for a better world.
