We are pleased to announce that our theme for September & October 2019 is:
Change Starts with Us: How can we work together to tackle bullying?
Bullying can happen in schools, workplaces, online or in the community: anywhere where there is a group of people, and some have more power than others.
But don’t despair: where there is a group of people, there is also the capacity for kindness and friendship, and help to find solutions!
The theme for this year’s Anti-Bullying Week in November is Change Starts with Us. In the lead up to the week, we’ll be highlighting how we can all take simple steps to make a difference in our community. The Anti-Bullying Alliance (who lead the week) state:
“Whether it is verbal, physical, online or in-person, bullying has a significant impact on [people’s lives].
By making small, simple changes, we can break this cycle and create a safe environment for everyone. Because together, we can challenge bullying.
Change starts with a conversation. It starts with checking in. It starts with work together.”

We can’t each do everything, but we can all do something: whether speaking out when we see bullying, offering a small act of kindness, or helping change structures to be more inclusive. And by making these changes in our everyday lives, we can start to develop a culture of peacebuilding that will help us deal with the bigger peace & justice issues our society faces.
So, pop into Peace Hub throughout September & October 2019 to:
- Share a small act of kindness;
- Write an anonymous message of solidarity;
- Read personal stories of overcoming bullying;
- Get top tips on dealing with conflict.
