For four days in September 2019, the international weapons industry plans to set up shop in London at a huge arms fair, DSEI.
According to Campaign Against Arms Trade:
“DSEI last took place in September 2017, and featured 1,500 exhibitors from around the world, displaying arms ranging from sniper rifles to tanks to combat aircraft to warships. They were joined by trade visitors and military delegations, including those from human rights abusing regimes and countries involved in conflict.”
In 2017, hundreds of people took part in a huge week of action to disrupt the set up of the arms fair: and this year we will be back to say ‘no’ to this deadly trade.
A week of action has been called for the 2 – 10 September 2019, and people from across the country will be taking a stand.
Pop into Peace Hub to find out more about the arms fair and how can stand up against it, including:
- Adding your message of solidarity to our banner which will travel down to the demonstration.
- Making a mini-banner to add to our display (pictured)
- Asking your MP oppose arms sales to Saudi Arabia (who have been invited to DSEI 2019)
And if you’d like to take action in person, on Saturday 3rd August, there will be an information & training day, where you can find out more, meet like-minded people who care about this issue, and make plans for how you’d like to join in the protests.
Is it ever acceptable to break the law for a higher purpose?
Would you be prepared to take that risk?
