Refugee Week is nearly here! 14th – 23rd June is a week to celebrate all the things that refugees and asylum seekers bring to the UK, and to show solidarity and friendship.
The theme for 2019 is you, me & those who came before. It’s an invitation to explore the lives of refugees (and those who have welcomed them) throughout the generations.
There’s a packed programme of events organised by Celebrating Sanctuary: including performances by refugee musicians, workshops, family-friendly sessions and networking events.
‘Home’ – a play written and performed by asylum seeker and refugee student’s at St Chad’s Sanctuary – will be performed on Weds 19th June, 7:30pm at Carrs Lane.
The week culminates in the free Refugee Week Festival event 12:00-5:30pm at MAC on Sunday 23rd June.
This is a free family event with live music, workshops (drumming, arts and crafts) face painting, stalls and activities.
