Last chance to see Danya’s Artwork! ‘My Parents are my Home’ will remain on display here until 31st July 2018.
Birmingham Friends of the Earth have announced the winners of their art competition to highlight the issue of Climate Refugees, and Peace Hub is delighted to be one of the venues where a winning artwork is being displayed.
Over 100 entries were submitted, reflecting on the question ‘what does home mean to me?’ From these, three winners were chosen from each age category: 3-11, 12-17 and 18+. The full trail of artworks has now ended, but you can pop by Peace Hub to see Dayna’s piece ‘My Parents are my Home’ until Tuesday 31st July.
Dayna (aged 11) says of her work:
“This picture is about my parents. My parents is what I love the most about home, they help me, feed me and I learn new things from the, everyday.”

The UN Refugee Convention was written in the aftermath of the second world war, when the international community was understandably focussed on people forced to flee from war zones or repressive regimes. Today, climate change is becoming another important factor in forced migration, and by 2020 there will potentially be 50 million people displaced from their homes by environmental changes.
