It’s the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia & Transphobia (IDAHOT).
Events will be happening across the world to stand up against hatred and fear, and instead celebrate our diverse gender identities and sexual orientations: from Albania, where LGBT people are taking part in a ‘bike (p)ride’ event, to Zagreb where rainbow flags are parading throught he streets in memory of Gilbert Baker (the artist who designed the flag).
In the UK a whole range of events are taking place, andacross Europe, people of faith are making a call for equality: you can still sign up to support their declaration.
There’s also good news from the USA, where Chelsea Manning, a trans woman and consciencious objector (whose struggle for justice we highlighted as part of our Taking a Stand theme) will be released today after seven years in prison.
Take the opportunity today to celebrate, and to stand up for equality: have a happy & peaceful IDAHOT!
