Refugee Week kicks off in Birmingham tomorrow (Sat 18th June) and runs right through to 2nd July.

It aims to welcome refugees and asylum seekers into our community, and celebrate the wonderful contribution they make.

Celebrating Sanctuary have organised a programme of events:

Saturday 18th June – The festival kicks off for Refugee Week with the amazing Tony Dudu and Gumbe Jazz. This is a free event outside Birmingham Library in the Amphitheatre.

Friday 24th June – Jazzlines – Symphony Hall Foyer – Didier Kisala – FREE Event

Saturday 25th June – Celebrating Sanctuary Birmingham Festival at Centrala

Centrala – Minerva Works, Fazeley Street, Birmingham B5 5RT
3pm – 8pm – FREE Event for all the family
• The Long Journey Home – Story telling presentation
• Zvinora
• Nifeco Costa
• Music and Spoken Word with musicians from The Redeemed and Writers Without Borders
• The Redeemed.
• World Beat Rhythms from DJ Glyn Philips
With face painting, food and drinks stalls, activities for children and information stalls

Saturday 2nd July – in partnership with Muzikstan – catch Culture Dub Orchestra with guest vocalist Didier Kisala (from The Redeemed), plus Afro Mio and DJ’s.
