A free exhibition of artwork and poetry exploring human stories of displacement.
11 January – 19 February at Peace Hub
Displacement affects millions of people worldwide, and though these are often times of great suffering, helplessness and hardship, stories of hope and humanity do emerge. This exhibition looks to uncover the stories of compassion, the camaraderie, and kindness that swim beneath the surface of some of Man’s darkest times.
In September 2015, the Leaveners put out an open call for new poetry on the theme of Displacement: Hope and Humanity, as part of their Poet’s Corner project. A wide range of people submitted poems, including some who have experienced displacement themselves. The Leaveners published an archive of these poems online, and invited artists to respond to them through painting, sculpture, photography and other media.
A selection of the poems and artwork will be on display in the Resource Centre at Peace Hub from 11th January to 19th February 2016, open Mon-Fri 11:00-14:30
(except 13:00-13:30 on Tuesdays, due to Silence in the City)
Leaveners is a charity that promotes social engagement and change through the arts.
