Keep Taking a Stand!

Keep Taking a Stand!

Our theme Taking a Stand is coming to an end, but there’s still plenty of ways you can support people who are standing up for what they believe in:

  • Visit the Quaker Service Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum, to remember people in the first and second world wars who followed their conscience and took a stand.
  • Support modern-day conscientious objectors by signing up to action alerts from War Resisters International.
  • Declare yourself a conscientious objector by signing the pledge against war taxes from Conscience: Taxes for Peace.
  • Send a message of support to people around the world taking a stand for human rights as part of Amnesty International’s Write for Rights campaign

You’ve still got a few days to pop into Peace Hub and take action for Loujain, before we close for our Christams break on 20th December.

When we open again from 8th January 2019, the new theme will be Our Shared Environment.  At the overlap between these two themes, Extinction Rebellion are currently supporting people to take a stand for meaningful action on climate change.

And looking further ahead, in July & August our theme will be looking at the arms trade, in preparation for resistance to the DSEI arms fair in September.  Watch this space for details of how you can support this, and take action against an arms fair coming to Birmingham in March.

And as always, you can drop into the Hub to discuss any of these issues and get ideas for action.
