27th February – 12th March 2017 is Fairtrade Fortnight!
According to the Fairtrade Foundation: “Fairtrade Fortnight is a fun-filled highlight of the year, when campaigners, businesses, schools and places of worship show their support for the farmers and workers who grow our food in developing countries.” And Peace Hub is looking forward to joining in!
The people who produce our tea, coffee, chocolate, bananas and many other goods work hard to supply the food that ends up on our tables. But often they aren’t paid what they deserve for their hard work – sometimes not even enough to cover what it cost to produce the goods. Fairtrade can help change this by paying farmers a minimum price for their goods, ensuring decent working conditions and paying an extra Fairtrade premium to invest in their business or community.
Throughout Fairtrade Fortnight, you can pop into Peace Hub to:
- Find out more about how Fairtrade helps producers around the world
- Take our fun quiz
- Grab a complimentary Fairtrade cuppa
- Buy Fairtrade snacks
- Write to your MP to call for fairer trade agreements
You can find what others are doing throughout Fairtrade Fortnight, and share your own stories using #FairtradeFortnight. So go ahead and get stuck in – and choose Fairtrade!
