Make your Mark on the Arms Trade

Peace Hub’s Peace and Justice Theme for November 2014 is:

UK Arms Exports

Make your mark to help end arms sales to repressive regimesEmbargoed gun

Over 250 UK companies produce products for the arms trade. In order to export these products, each company must apply to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office for an Arms Export Licence.  In 2013, licences were issued allowing arms to be exported from the UK to over 100 countries worldwide.

This includes many countries where the arms we export may be used for violent repression.  Several are on the Foreign & Commonwealth Office’s own list of countries with “the most serious wide-ranging human rights concerns,” such as China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Isreal and Russia.

At Peace Hub, you can take action to help stop the UK selling arms to these repressive regimes.

Add your ‘Embargoed’ stamp to our giant arms licence, and sign the petition calling for an arms embargo to Egypt and other countries using repression.  From 10th November, drop in any weekday 11.00-2.30 for a chat about these issues and to take action.

You can find out more information and ways to take action against the arms trade via Campaign Against Arms Trade.
