The Bundle: an Asylum Seeker’s Journey

The Bundle: an Asylum Seeker’s Journey

20th Jun 2017, 7:15 pm – 8:45 pm

at Bull St Quaker Meeting House, Birmingham

A play by Journeymen Theatre based on the true story of a Chechen asylum-seeker.

Presented by Central England Quakers Asylum Group, as part of Refugee Week 2017.

Based closely on the story of a real woman and her three young children, The Bundle follows Adilah’s domestic persecution and denial of human rights in Chechnya.  Removed from her Russian homeland by her Chechen father, abducted into a forced marriage and then subjected to a life of servitude, she takes the ultimate risk in plotting her escape to the UK.  Here she finds a home but also encounters the Home Office’s ‘hostile environment’ towards
asylum- seekers and refugees.

The play lasts for just over an hour and there will be an opportunity for discussion afterwards. There is no charge, but Journeymen Theatre welcomes donations for organisations working closely with asylum-seekers and refugees in the UK.

Journeymen Theatre is a small-scale touring company which specialises in solo and two-hander productions.
