at Peace Hub, BirminghamRoots of Resistance is a community of Quakers building a creative, vibrant and radical response to the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) arms fair.
Taking place in east London every two years, DSEI is a huge trade show bringing together 1,500 arms companies with representatives from militaries from around the world. Some of the world’s largest companies market tanks, planes, drones, rifles, ammunition, surveillance technology, training and a huge array of other weapons.
Quakers will be particularly active on Tuesday 3rd September, when the focus of the protest is No Faith in War. In preparation, several Quakers and other interested people will be making props and banners to take to the protest.
You can drop in between 11:30am and 4:30pm to join in. We’ll provide some materials, and you’re welcome to bring your own: such as largish pieces of cloth or large marker pens.
